Pink House (ピンクハウス) is a japanese brand that is often credited for the Otome fashion boom, and was founded by Isao Kaneko in 1973. Although it's not a Lolita brand, it has a long history of popularity in the community, and frequently has collabs with Misako Aoki.
Products[]
The brand is mainly focusing on long-lenght clothes with plenty of pin-tuck, frills, and ribbon on a high-quality soft lawn fabric. With its charming girly and elegant atmosphere, it's a rare brand that has a large following in all age groups. There are many motifs that gently tickle the hearts of women no matter how old they are, such as seasonal floral prints, strawberries, patchwork styles, bears, and rabbits.
There are many loose designs with a low waist, and most of the dresses end around your ankles. Even while there is a midi lenght option available, it's usually long enough to hide your knees. It's not designed to empathise the shape of the body, so it's easy to wear it similar to Lolita fashion.
Many of the dresses and skirts have buttons at the front, making it popular to wear them in bustle style to show the many layers worn underneat, and also one of the main features of Pink House. Of course, you can wear it in a light version without layers, but since the outfits in the promotional photos always involve many layers, the same piece of clothing will give off a very different feeling without them.
There are many own local stores all across Japan. In addition to the official online shop, there's also many sites dedicated to selling older releases, such as Club Candy. There's also a men's line called Karl Herlmut and Ingeborg for older women. There used to be a line of children's clothing, but it has been long discontinued.
Price[]
Overall, the price range of Pink House is way higher than the one of japanese Lolita brands. Their royal dresses cost 100.000yen and more, and the skirts range between 50.000-70.000yen on average, but the higher detailed ones can go way beyond 100.000yen. Vests and aprons often cost more than 30.000yen, a price for which you can already buy a dress from one of the popular Lolita brands. Simple pieces like tees and cutsews are usually around 10.000yen.
However, it costs way beyond 300.000yen to get a complete outfit as shown in the promotional photos, which is the first thing you image when hearing the brand's name. If you are still thinking about getting into Pink House, it might be a better idea to get your first pieces secondhand.
